Today was my first day off in a while, so Maggie and I drove near Rivergate mall to go thrifting and see what might be happening around there. Turns out, there was a small fair happening on the mall grounds and I’m glad I had my camera with me.
I convinced Maggie to drop me off at the rear opening of the park, and that’s when I saw this man (clearly defeated by the 80+ degree heat) lugging colorful beverage containers in each hand.
It proved to be a fairly miserable time in the direct sunlight so I kept moving around the park looking for shaded areas and interesting colors. The retro designs on the ferris wheel caught my eye.
I continued through the gaming area and noticed this lady indulging in the park’s concessions. Funnel cake in her hand and a large, icy lemonade under her arm as she watched her daughter try to win a prize.
I heard sounds of laughter above me as I made my way to the outer edge of the park. The spinning swing ride was full of happy couples.
I walked around the fair grounds a couple times by this point and a corn dog definitely sounded tasty. (I didn’t get one)
I remember riding these large swinging boat rides growing up but this is the first time I’ve seen an Egyptian themed one. “Pharaoh’s Fury” had a pretty hollow gaze to it.
This carousel trailer grabbed my attention as I finally started leaving the fair grounds. The bright colorful graphics were a nice contrast to the grey clouds rolling in.
Today was definitely a hot one, but all-in-all there was fun material to capture on my photo walk around the fair grounds. Hope you enjoyed the first blog entry!
